Making an amazing batch of Magnetic Glitter Slime could not be easier! Follow these steps and you will fall in love with this super fun Magnetic Slime.
Step 1: Add one cup of school glue to your bowl.
Step 2: I like to add about 3 pumps of lotion to make the slime a bit stretchier but this step is completely optional.
Step 3: Add glitter! This is also completely optional, but I couldn’t help myself 🙂
Step 4: I also add a few pumps of foam soap but this is another completely optional step. If you have been following me for a while, you know I like to add foam soap to all of my slimes. I feel like it improves the texture 🙂
Step 5: Add half a cup of black iron oxide. This is what makes the slime magnetic. Try not to get this on your hands at this point as it is difficult to clean off your nails.
You want to gradually add small amounts of iron oxide powder to the glue while stirring continuously. The more powder you add, the stronger the magnetic properties of the slime will be.
How to Make Borax Slime Activator
How to Use Saline Activator
Step 6: Begin to add your activator about a teaspoon at a time. Stir well after each addition.
Continue adding the activator and stirring until the slime starts to come together and pull away from the sides of the bowl. Be careful not to add too much activator, as it can make the slime too stiff.
I like to use borax dissolved in water as my activator but you can also use a pinch of baking soda and contact lens/saline solution. If you choose the saline solution method, make sure the saline contains the ingredient boric acid.
Step 7: Once your slime is formed, you may want to add glitters to the top as I did. Feel free to decorate to your heart’s content!
Step 8: Now grab your magnets and have some fun!
Try rolling a small piece of the magnetic slime into a ball or any desired shape you like.
Next, bring the magnet close to the slime and watch to see what happens. You’ll notice that the slime is attracted to the magnet and that the slime will try to “chase” the magnetic wherever you move it.
Store your magnetic slime in an airtight container to keep it fresh and prevent it from drying out. Make sure to keep it away from any magnetic-sensitive objects.
I hope you enjoyed this step-by-step tutorial on how to make your very own magnetic slime. Watching your slime come alive with the power of magnets is a truly fascinating sensory activity, sure to please even your toughest crowds!
